Last month, claims from the UK stated Newcastle United are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Genoa’s Radu Drăgușin ahead of January. There were even suggestions the Magpies could offer around €30m.
TV Play had a chat with the 21-year-old’s agent, Florin Manea, who has revealed that he’s held talks with Newcastle over a potential deal for the 21-year-old.
When asked about claims of a Newcastle offer, he said: “It’s not an offer from Newcastle, I’ve had meetings with both Newcastle and other teams. Genoa would only sell him for an offer higher than €30m.”
The agent didn’t make it clear whether these talks with Eddie Howe’s side were held in the last window or more recently.
Drăgușin initially joined the Serie A side on loan from Juventus in 2022 and his stay there was made permanent in the summer. He’s made 10 appearances and has played every minute for the Italian club this season.
The centre-back has a deal lasting until 2027 and his performances have caught the attention of Newcastle and other Serie A sides. The Romania international’s agent revealed this when asked if there is a possibility his client could return to the Turin club.
“I wouldn’t like it [return to Juve], but he doesn’t know. In life you never know, even if Genoa will certainly ask for a lot of money for him. He still has a lot of room for improvement. He is aware that he’s now at 85% of his potential,” Manea explained.
“Will Drăgușin leave Italy? Probably. AC Milan and Inter have also asked, but [for] those figures, he can only go to Premier League teams.”
The representative’s quotes about a potential move to England should please Newcastle, if they are genuinely keen on securing Drăgușin’s services.
