This could be a decisive week for Chelsea to conclude the signing of Estêvão from Palmeiras, according to claims from Brazil.

Globo Esporte writes that the South American club are expected to close the deal with the Blues in the ‘coming days’.

Chelsea reportedly said at the weekend they’re matching the €65m request to sign the wonderkid, and that will see the talks advance.

The Blues’ last bid was reportedly €60m, made up of €45m initially plus €15m in bonuses. Palmeiras wanted a little more and also didn’t like the performance goals that would trigger those add-ons.

Estêvão is actually protected by a €45m release clause, but the competition to sign him has been so big that clubs have already accepted to pay more than that. The likes of Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona have also been linked, but Chelsea are still called ‘favourites’.

Now it seems that this new bid from the Stamford Bridge side could be the final step to take him to the Premier League, as some reports already said his entourage sees the Blues as a good destination.
