Brighton and Hove Albion star Marc Cucurella has admitted he would like to return to Barcelona at some point, just so he can play at the Camp Nou.
The defender joined Brighton in a £16.2m deal from Getafe in the summer and has quickly established himself as a key player for Graham Potter’s side since.
The Spaniard is a firm fan favourite at Brighton already, with a series of impressive performances in their strong start to the season earning him plenty of praise.
So far, his first foray into football outside of Spain is going extremely well, with him having spent the rest of his career so far in his homeland.
He spent most of his youth playing for Barcelona’s various youth levels before eventually making it into the first team in 2018.
They had no intention of keeping him, though, instead sending him on loan to Getafe before selling him for £10.62m in 2020.
In total, he made just one senior appearance for the Catalans, something he is keen to rectify in future if he can.
“In the end, I’ve been there for many years at Barça,” Sport report him saying to DAZN.
“We could say that it’s my home and my family or my wife’s, who is from Barcelona.
“I have a thorn in my side because I made my debut in the first team, but I was never able to play at Camp Nou.
“I think it’s something I’d like to do before I retire or leave football.”
