Two days ago, the Guardian reported Liverpool would like to sign David Alaba after his contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.
The Reds’ interest in the defender has also been reported by Italian journalist Romeo Agresti.
Agresti further stated the English champions have offered a contract to the 28-year-old with a salary of £175,000 per week, a figure which may well be after tax.
Sky Deutschland have looked at the claims made by Agresti and explain the Austria international is ‘negotiating with five clubs’ over a summer move and is ‘also talking about numbers’. However, the treble winner isn’t specifically negotiating a contract.
Regarding the English champions, it’s claimed Liverpool are ‘not necessarily at the top of the centre-back’s priority list’.
Sky also mention that last week Marca reported Alaba had reached an agreement with Real Madrid. According to their own sources, this information is incorrect.
It’s worth noting that this hasn’t been Marca’s general stance and there seems to be a misunderstanding here.
In addition to this, El Confidencial claim the Bayern player being linked to Real Madrid is a ‘bluff in the game for the renewal of Sergio Ramos’.
According to this report, Florentino Pérez is unwilling to meet Alaba’s exorbitant net annual salary demands of €10m.
