Lucas Paqueta is willing to lower his wages and leave West Ham United on a temporary basis to head back to Brazil for a year.

That’s according to journalist Fabricio Lopes, via Bolavip, who reports that talks are set to take place between West Ham and Flamengo over the midfielder.

They explain that Flamengo are determined to add a big player in the next transfer window and are looking around on the market for that player.

The ‘great dream’ for the club is to bring Paqueta back and work is now underway to try and make that happen. Paqueta made 95 appearances for the Brazilian club, scoring 18 and assisting eight, before leaving for AC Milan in 2019.

The Mengão have now ‘resumed negotiations’ with West Ham about him, something Lopes has also been told.

“Flamengo will resume talks with West Ham to have Lucas Paquetá on loan and will match the player a much lower salary. And he would play for Fla at least for a season,” he is reported saying on his YouTube channel.

Any move, though, will be dependent on what happens with the English FA’s case against the West Ham midfielder for alleged betting offences.

That’s consistently been postponed and with a verdict not due until the middle of the year, has left the Brazilian in limbo.

He wants to return to Flamengo, though, according to Bolavip, and is willing to give up ‘good money’ to get West Ham’s permission to do so.
