This week, the British press linked Swansea City with a move for Hammarby manager Kim Hellberg.
Confirmations about their interest have now arrived from Sweden. Fotbollskanalen thave looked at the Swans’ hunt for a new manager and they reveal the Championship side are keeping an eye on Hammarby, who are at the top of the Allsvenskan.
The outlet believe this isn’t the first time Swansea have laid their eyes on Sweden.
In the last few days, they have tried to sign Henrik Rydström from Malmo. A source close to the situation confirms that to Fotbollskanalen, saying:
“It was a no from Malmö FF. Swansea wanted to talk to Malmö and Rydström but couldn’t.”
More than that, the outlet reveal the Welsh side have also tried to sign Elfsborg’s Jimmy Thelin back in 2023, when Michael Duff was sacked.
They believe a lot of it comes down to the success that Swansea had with Graham Potter, who had joined them from Ostersund.
Fotbollskanalen aren’t sure about whether the Swans have a real possibility of landing Hellberg or not, but there is definite interest.
