Lautaro Martínez has been on Barcelona’s radar since the start of this season.
The striker’s impressive performances for Inter Milan, which includes 16 goals and four assists in 31 matches in all competitions has seen him draw attention from clubs across Europe.
Reports from Spain and Italy have discussed Manchester City looking at the possibility of signing the 22-year-old.
FcInterNews state the Argentina international’s representative has an offer from Barcelona, which is for five years with a salary of €10m per season.
However, the Catalan club need to sell players to pay the fee needed to complete the attacker’s transfer.
City also get a mention and the website states there has been no offer from the Premier League club.
It’s claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side ‘do not have the strength at the moment’ [likely because of the Covid-19 crisis] to pay Martínez’s release clause of €111m. The clause is valid between July 1st to 15th.
With City lacking financial muscle to complete a big money signing, it may come as an advantage for Barcelona in the race to land Martínez, provided they meet conditions for transfer.
That said, whatever FCInterNews think, Manchester City are in a better financial situation than Barcelona.
