Stade Rennais defender Adrien Truffert has admitted he is aware of interest from Everton and Ajax this summer.

Everton are expected to undergo something of an overhaul this summer, with Frank Lampard keen to mold the squad to better fit his needs.

There is a big desire at Goodison Park to focus on youth moving forwards, with Lampard enjoying a track record of developing young talent in previous managerial stints with Derby and Chelsea.

The latter saw him bring through the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, all players who have gone on to be first-team stars for Chelsea, Roma and AC Milan.

Everton want the same, and reports early in the window have already seen them linked with talents across the world.

20-year-old Truffert would certainly fit the bill, having established himself as first-choice left-back for Rennes over the last two season, making 79 appearances and registering four goals and seven assists.

He’s a player who appears to be on the radar of several clubs, including Everton, and he’s spoken out about those rumours.

“Yes, I was aware. Of course, it’s flattering to have clubs interested in you,” he told RMC Sport, relayed by Stade Rennais.

“Honestly, the question today does not necessarily arise. I have a contract until 2025 with Stade Rennais.

“We had a complicated end of season; now I have the qualifications with the U21s, so for the moment, I don’t have to ask myself this question.

“I will ask myself this question later, with my parents and my agents. My parents are very important. They are a strength.”
