Uruguay are ‘on alert’ ahead of the international break as they worry about Edinson Cavani’s fitness at Manchester United.

That’s according to El Pais, who say United revealing that Cavani won’t make it for this weekend’s games has caused a bit of worry.

They explain that the striker played his last game for Manchester United a month ago and has just two games left to get fit before the upcoming triple-header of international games.

Thus, ‘time is getting shorter’ for him to get back into the rhythm and be ready for the games, where Uruguay face tough games against Colombia, Argentina and Brazil.

Quarantine and injury have already sidelined him from the vast majority of Manchester United games this season, to the point that he has only managed 37 minutes against Wolves on 29th August.

He’s now likely to miss this weekend, according to Manchester United, and that’s a concern for Uruguay as Cavani remains a ‘key player’ and one of the top goalscorers in their history.

They need him fit and firing, but that’s not likely to happen, with the fear being that he’ll be ‘limited in the games’ by the time he joins up with them.
