Manchester United are “in the fight” for Tottenham’s Harry Kane this summer and that means “it won’t be easy” for Real Madrid to get him this summer.
That’s according to Cadena COPE journalist Marcos López, who says United will make life hard for Real Madrid in the fight to get Kane this summer.
The England captain is expected to leave Tottenham in the coming months, with his current contract set to end next summer and no sign of a new deal being agreed.
He’s subsequently been linked with a big money move this summer, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United all named as potential destinations.
The former appear to have pulled out of the race at this point thanks to Kane’s €100m asking price but the latter two certainly have not, with both desperate to add an elite level striker to their squads.
According to López, though, if they do make an any attempt to get the striker, they will have to fight off Manchester United.
“When you detect who is the right one, you have to go for it all the way,” he told Bernabeu Digital.
“Florentino Pérez changed football and the industry at the turn of the century. Great players are always profitable, the problem always arises when you pay above-market transfers for players who have neither the talent nor the ability to be idols or references.
“On the case of Harry Kane. United are in the fight, Tottenham have had their problems with United in the past with the Berbatov transfer and blocked Kane’s departure to City quite recently.
“I guess it won’t be easy, although in my view it would be a Van Nistelrooy for Madrid or Lewandowski for Barca, which would guarantee goals, but it wouldn’t be at the top of my list of replacements.”
