The case of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Amadou Diawara is a rather interesting one.

The Premier League side are clearly interested in signing the Guinea international from AS Roma, but the player has absolutely no desire to move to Molineux.

That, however, hasn’t stopped Wolves from trying, with Corriere dello Sport explaining the English club, ‘under the direction of Jorge Mendes’, moved ‘decisively’ for the defensive midfielder.

An ‘upcoming proposal worth about €12m’ appears to be ready, but, ‘for a month, Amadou Diawara has systematically refused all the market options that Roma have submitted to him’.

Tiago Pinto, in charge of transfer at the Serie A club, is ‘dedicating himself to solving this problem, which is not easy’.

A sale is needed for any further investments to be made, and Diawara heading to Wolves would help fully counter the investment Roma made for Rui Patricio earlier in the transfer window.

For now, though, the player is digging his heels, and it will be interesting to see if Pinto, who has done a rather reasonable job so far (barring the whole Granit Xhaka mess), can unlock the situation.
