With Valencia needing to make €30m before the end of the month, such an urgent scenario requires help from an old friend of the club, and that’s where Jorge Mendes comes in.
Spanish outlet Plaza Deportiva details the situation, claiming owner Peter Lim has asked for the help from the representative to get a couple of players sold.
One of them is Gonçalo Guedes, who according to the story has Wolverhampton Wanderers as a possibility for his future.
The outlet writes that Wolves ‘have already sounded’ him out, along with AS Roma and others. However, there are no details on how the Molineux side’s approach went, as it’s just pointed out Roma would struggle to afford his transfer.
Plaza Deportiva doesn’t say how much Valencia would demand for Guedes, who’s valued by Transfermarkt at €40m, although they do make it sound like his sale would be enough to solve the club’s need for €30m.
It’s claimed they need the money ‘as soon as possible’, so if Wolves are indeed interested, that may show up as an interesting opportunity for the summer window.
Such a scenario is how they ended up with Ruben Neves, with FC Porto needing money in a short timeframe.
