Aaron Connolly’s failure to enjoy regular game time in the first half of the 2021/22 season at Brighton & Hove Albion saw him join Middlesbrough on loan at the start of this year.

The forward returned to The Amex in the summer and after being left out of the Seagulls plans this season, he was again loaned out to Venezia in the last transfer window.

The Brighton owned player has made five appearances for the Serie B side this term and it includes two starts. His last outing with the Italian club came in their 2-0 defeat to SPAL.

Connolly was left out of Venezia’s match day squad in their last 10 matches. There was no clarity on why he was omitted, until club chairman, Duncan Niederauer, provided clarification.

Venezia appointed Filippo Antonelli as their new sporting director and he was presented to the media on Monday. At the press conference, Niederauer was asked about the Brighton man’s situation.

“Connolly? The player isn’t injured, he was, but he’s fine now, he’s had some adaptation difficulties. We will talk to Brighton in January to find a solution. In January and June, we will do several operations,” Niederauer was quoted as saying by TuttoMercatoWeb.
