West Ham United are keen on Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos but face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers for his signature.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say the Premier League duo ‘want’ the Argentine this summer.
They explain the reported West Ham & Wolves target has been a key player for Julen Lopetegui since he arrived at the club in the summer of 2019 and that has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
He is ‘fundamental’ to the Spanish side, and they will only sell him if a club matches his release clause, which is €70m at the moment but would be raised to €90m if the player accepts a one-year contract extension that the club want to offer him.
They would not sell Ocampos for less than his release clause, be it €70m or €90m, but there are ‘pretenders’ from the Premier League nonetheless.
West Ham have already ‘asked’ about his situation but been given a firm response from Sevilla; pay his clause if you want him.
Wolves are also ‘interested’ in the forward and have a ‘good relationship’ with their counterparts in Spain after they sold Rafa Mir to them in the summer transfer window.
At the moment, the Argentine’s future is ‘unknown’ but what is clear is that Sevilla do not want to sell him, and, if they are to do so, West Ham or Wolves will have to pay a high price to convince them to do so.
