As Benfica prepare to face Liverpool in the Champions League’s quarter-finals this week, there’s a lot of attention going towards Eagles’ centre-forward Darwin Nunez, who’s been shining for the club this season.

The player is set to return to the Lisbon side’s starting team on Tuesday evening, and as the local media writes about the 22-year-old, they say his performance will be watched by the ‘many Premier League clubs’ who’ve been following him.

As pointed out by newspaper Correio da Manhã, West Ham United are one of those who’ve ‘already shown interest’ in the player, which puts them in that list of contenders who should keep an eye on him at this match.

They’re spies are set to keep an eye on him again, as they continue their transfer work ahead of the summer.

The striker already has goals against Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax this season, and will now have another chance to prove himself against European giants.

West Ham should just be aware that given the success Darwin has been having for Benfica this season, he won’t be an easy signing.

Correio da Manhã says Benfica, who have the player protected by a release clause worth €150m, will only accept negotiating his sale for over €80m.

Besides the price, another difficulty West Ham should find is the competition from other clubs who’ve been linked to him recently, such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona.
