West Ham United are back negotiating for the transfer of Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite, according to claims today.
Sport reports several Premier League clubs have been in touch with the Catalan side regarding a January move, and the Hammers are one of them.
It’s said West Ham recently ‘asked about his situation’, but apparently didn’t go further than that, as they’re still to place a bid for the 29-year-old.
Now even though Braithwaite is happy at Barcelona and enjoying the chances he’s having at the Camp Nou, his agents and the club may still work on his departure.
Sport says his entourage know his spell at Barcelona won’t last long, as he was part of an ’emergency pack’ of signings who arrived this year. Meanwhile, the Catalan side are looking to lower their wage bill, and will consider many sales.
It’s claimed that Barcelona would demand €15m for the transfer now. That’s less than the €18m they asked in the summer, when West Ham were in negotiations for Braithwaite and couldn’t match the price.
