With Keita Baldé struggling to have the impact desired at Inter, there’s already talk of him going somewhere else in January, and Thursday morning saw a rumour sending him to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Coming from TuttoMercatoWeb, we took a look at it, and speculated that, while there were claims Wolves were ‘more than interested’, doing anything in January was potentially impossible (we’ll get back to this later).
A bit later on in the day, another article was published on the same website, this time including West Ham in the interested parties, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
After all, the Hammers are looking at more attacking options following Andriy Yarmolenko’s long-term injury, and their fondness for Keita isn’t anything new, having already wanted him last year when he was leaving Lazio.
Eventually signing for Monaco, the Senegalese forward was sent out on loan to Inter in exchange for a €6m fee, with the Serie A club having the option to sign him permanently for €30m.
At the rate things are going, that isn’t going to happen, but even if they were to cut his time with them short, there’s doubts over whether or not he could play for another team this season.
Prior to his move to Milan, Keita had featured in the Trophée des Champions against Paris Saint-Germain, which is the French equivalent of the Community Shield.
It’s unsure whether or not that counts as an official game, but if it does, it’s a well known rule no player can feature for more than two clubs in the same season.
Just ask Hatem Ben Arfa, who was unable to play for Nice for that exact reason.
