West Ham United midfielder Thomas Soucek is a potential target for Inter Milan as they continue to look at the free-agent market to bolster their squad.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say plans are already afoot for next season and Soucek is being eyed up as a potential bargain.

The newspaper states that the 28-year-old West Ham midfielder is ‘already on the table’ at Viale Liberazione, where he is considered an ‘interesting profile’ for the club to look into.

That’s because of his size and the defensive strength he can add to the team, as well as the fact he ‘knows how to run a lot’.

The latter means that while being defensively solid, he often also finds himself in the opposition box, with goalscoring not a problem for him. That’s been demonstrated by his four goals in ten games this season for West Ham, something which hasn’t gone unnoticed by Inter.

He’s an ‘opportunity’ that ‘would be truly tempting’ for the Italian club, although their idea of snatching him on a free transfer next summer may be somewhat optimistic.

That’s because West Ham have an option to renew his deal for another year, thus eliminating the potential of him going on a free.

Corriere state that the ‘player’s will will count’ on that front but it seems unlikely West Ham would decide not to renew his deal for a year just so he could leave for Inter on a free.

They’ll want some money back for him, that’s just the nature of football clubs, but Inter’s interest is something to keep an eye on in the coming months, nonetheless.
