Reece Oxford’s agent Aidy Ward has spoken to the German press this week about English players who have been joining the Bundesliga. S
ince Jadon Sancho moved to Borussia Dortmund and did so well, there’s been several to have followed, and move have been targeted.
The focus of the conversation was obviously the West Ham player, who has signed for FC Augusta on a spell until the end of the season.
Ward expects his client to be opening doors in the Bundesliga, as Germany could prove to be a better place for loanees from Premier League sides.
“Most of these players are developing great. You can say it’s a win-win situation,” Ward told Fussball Transfers. He says there’s a good influence from “German mentality, to give young players chances.”
“The English clubs are approaching this philosophy step by step, but change takes time,” says the agent. “He went to Germany as the first of the current generation.”
And regarding the defender’s future, Ward says Oxford has the dream of playing for a specific Bundesliga side: “Reece is a big fan of Owen Hargreaves. He always thought it would be great to play for a club like Bayern one day.”
Reece Oxford already picked up some experience at Gladbach last season. The youngster seems to be comfortable in the country, and it would be no surprise if he leaves West Ham permanently for a German side in the summer.
Probably not Bayern Munich just yet though.
