Desperate to leave West Ham towards the end of the summer transfer window, Diafra Sakho was blocked from completing a transfer to Rennes by the Hammers, as they needed him as backup when Slaven Bilic was still in charge.
A change of manager, with David Moyes replacing the Croatian, could have meant good news for the Senegal international, except it didn’t.
Left out of the last three match day squads, the 28-year-old looks set for a January exit, and a return to France, where he excelled at Metz, could still be on the cards, but this time to Bordeaux.
At least, that’s what RMC Sport are reporting on Tuesday, explaining Sakho is currently on Jocelyn Gourvennec’s list of potential striker signings, which also include Newcastle’s Stefan Mitrovic, with whom they are currently in talks with.
As things stand, no offer has been made by the French club for the West Ham forward, and it seems the aforementioned Serbian is still top of their list.
However, with Mitrovic’s wages and Newcastle’s demands currently a problem for Bordeaux, there’s every chance they could start focusing on Sakho sooner rather than later.
One to keep an eye on.
