Millonarios FC’s Neyser Villarreal has ended up on Liverpool and Newcastle United’s radar, according to claims from Colombia.

Journalist Guillermo Arango has covered the Magpies’ desire to sign the 19-year-old for Saque Largo, relayed by Bolvaip in Colombia.

The outlet states Liverpool have shown interest and are joined by Newcastle in the chase.

Villarreal has struggled to enjoy more minutes at the club but has starred for Colombia at the 2025 U20 South American Championship in Venezuela. He scored eight goals and registered four assists from nine games.

The forward’s fine displays have caught the attention of several clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle.

Arango claims Eddie Howe’s side had sent a scout to Venezuela to follow Villarreal and are ‘interested in signing’ him.

His contract lasts until at the end of this year and despite his limited role at Millonarios, they want offer him an extension. The player and his agent don’t see a future for him at the Colombian club.

Another journalist, Javier Hernández Bonnet, told Blog Deportivo that Vasco da Gama are interested in Villarreal.
