Sunderland are in the picture to sign Hansa Rostock’s Ahmet Gürleyen in the summer transfer window for around €500,000.

That’s according to Fussball Transfers and BILD, who both report on Sunderland’s interest in the 25-year-old centre-back ahead of the summer.

Fussball Transfers report that, according to their information, Sunderland and other Championship sides have their eye on the defender ahead of the summer.

He joined the 3. Bundesliga side from FC Nürnberg last summer and has been a regular this season, convincing in the German third tier.

BILD cover the report from FT and add a little more information, stating a reported transfer fee of €500,000 is being discussed at this moment in time.

That’s seen as a fee that Sunderland and other ‘financially strong’ clubs in the UK could afford and it wouldn’t be a major hurdle. On the flip side, the deal would be worth it financially for the German side.

Thus, there may be a deal there to be done and Sunderland are currently out in front, although there may be competition from other Championship sides in the summer transfer window.
