Both West Ham United and Portsmouth have been chasing Chelsea youngster Pierre Ekwah Elimby in recent months.

The midfielder made seven Premier League 2 appearances for the Blues U23 side, but his future is likely to be away from Chelsea.

Over the past two months, the 19-year-old has had trials with the League One side and has also been training the Hammers.

West Ham are now ahead of Portsmouth in the chase for the youngster, if reports coming out of France are to be believed.

RMC Sport journalist Loïc Tanzi took to Twitter to report the youngster has been training with West Ham in ‘recent weeks’ before adding that Pierre Ekwah Elimby is now ‘expected to sign’ with David Moyes’ side.

In a separate tweet, Tanzi explains West Ham are expected to pay around €1.5m.

This could either be compensation, as his contract is reportedly up at the end of this season, or as a transfer fee if it isn’t.

The journalist also adds Chelsea will receive a ‘big percentage’ from the player’s future sale.

Pierre Ekwah Elimby initially could be part of West Ham’s U23 side before handing him opportunities in their first team.
