The future of Stefano Okaka was one of the big stories involving Udinese over the past month, as there was the possibility the Italy international could stay for an extra year after a good six month loan during the second half of last season.

However, there were some difficulties in getting a transfer over the line, namely the Watford striker’s wages, which didn’t fit in the Serie A side’s budget for the coming season.

There were ‘strong doubts’ a deal could be done a few days ago, and that entire deal appears to now be off the cards as Udinese have turned to Palermo’s Ilija Nestorovski to bolster their attack.

Gazzetta dello Sport are the ones who bring the news on Tuesday, and they make it clear the Macedonia international is going to take Okaka’s spot in the squad.

That means the 30-year-old will be returning to Vicarage Road, where he has two years of contract left.

The Italian newspaper explain Okaka could now ‘accept the offer from Galatasaray’, which we brought to your attention back on June 27th.

Watford were said to be asking for around €3m for the their forward, which the Turkish side are ‘ready to pay’.
