Juan de Dios Crespo, the agent representing Watford in their case against Mamadou Mbaye has once again poured doubt on the player’s claims of innocence.
Mbaye and his current club Cádiz were sanctioned by FIFA last week over the player’s move to the Spanish club last summer.
Watford had appealed to the governing body claiming that the player, who moved to Vicarage Road from Cádiz B in 2018, had signed for his new without their permission, a claim that FIFA mostly upheld.
They subsequently banned Cádiz from signing players for two transfer windows, banned Mbaye from playing for four months and ordered him to pay compensation to the Hornets.
Juan de Dios Crespo has questioned that stance, though, asking how if there was no contract, Mbaye was still claiming money from Watford.
“We are waiting for the three parties to receive the legal grounds, and we will see what happens later,” he told he told El Desmarque.
“If they have sanctioned Cádiz, it is because they have taken our arguments into account.
“If the player is claiming money from Watford it means that, as a matter of common sense, there was a contract between the parties.
“If not, there would be no point in doing so. The contract exists, and it’s on record. The rest is just talk in Cádiz.”
