Watford forward Stefano Okaka has told the Italian media he was close to joining Sevilla last summer, and also Galatasaray in January.
The forward signed for Watford in 2016, but has struggled to hold a place down in the starting eleven
Speaking to Gianluca di Marzio, Okaka was asked about joining another club: “In August I was very close to Sevilla but I would have stayed at Watford if things had gone normally. However, with Sevilla it was not successful because an agreement was not found on the last day of the market.”
“The same thing happened also in January with Galatasaray, always the last day.”
The 28 year old has played just eight Premier League games this season, and only nineteen in his debut season with Watford. Okaka has been continually been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road, and a possible return to his home country.
His situation hasn’t changed since Javi Gracia replaced Marco Silva, and he’s yet to start a game under the Spanish manger.
A transfer from Watford in the summer looks likely for Okaka if he can’t force himself into Gracia’s plans.
