Still somehow a Wolverhampton Wanderers player after all this time, Patrick Cutrone needs to make a decision about his future this summer.
His contract at Molineux is up next summer, meaning this is the last chance Wolves have to get some of their £16.2m investment back.
Luckily for them, there is still interest in the 23-year-old, with Rangers FC, managed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Celta Vigo both keen on him.
This is according to Calciomercato.it, who report that while Serie A clubs are still monitoring Cutrone, it’s the Ibrox side and their Spanish counterparts who ‘have the advantage’ to sign the former Milan starlet.
They add the move to Spain ‘would be permanent and would represent an important turning point’ for the player’s career, suggesting that any transfer to Rangers would be a loan.
We’ll have to wait and see about that, because with a contract up in 2023, any temporary deal would either need a mandatory purchase clause included or for Cutrone to renew at Wolves before heading to Ibrox.
More information about Rangers’ interest in the striker should come out soon, but you would expect that following the sales of Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Cedric Itten for a combined £29m (with only £9m spent so far on Ben Davies, Rabbi Matondo and Antonio Colak), they could afford to sign the Italian permanently.
After all, Wolves clearly want rid, he wants to leave Molineux and it would be best for everyone for this to be resolved this summer once and for all.
