Earlier today, we carried a report from Sport, who claimed Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes wants a move to ‘ideal destination’ Tottenham Hotspur.
The Catalan newspaper also mentioned the Portuguese international wants to join another Premier League club, if Mauricio Pochettino’s side decide against signing him in the summer transfer window.
Spanish newspaper AS claims Arsenal are also interested in Gomes, a rumour which has been pushed for around a week or so. The Gunners appointed Unai Emery as their manager earlier this summer and he has ‘conducted various consultations’ for the midfielder.
Arsenal haven’t yet made an offer to Barcelona for the former Valencia man.
Gomes has struggled since joining the La Liga winners in 2016 and Ernesto Valverede wants the club to offload him.
Emery is rebuilding the squad at the Emirates and, according to the claims, believes Gomes is a player who fits the right profile, both physically and technically. The former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager has also asked about the 24-year-old’s ‘habits of life’ and received positive reports so far.
Situation based on today’s reports from Spain: Gomes wants Tottenham as per Sport, but there has been no mention of interest from Pochettino’s side. AS claim Arsenal are also interested in the player. However, the Gunners are yet to submit a proposal to Barcelona.
