Mundo Deportivo reported in October that Mauricio Pochettino failed in his efforts to convince Carles Aleñá to join Tottenham Hotspur in the last window.
On November 6th, we carried a report from Calciomercato, who explained the former Southampton manager urged Spurs to try and strike a deal with Barcelona for the midfielder in January.
Two days later, reports from Spain stated the north London club had sent a proposal for the 21-year-old ahead of January.
Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims the player was followed by Tottenham, but he’s now close to agreeing a loan deal with Real Betis.
Another Catalan newspaper Sport suggests Getafe and Betis remain firm options for the Spaniard. In the same report, they also mention the Premier League side.
It’s claimed Tottenham’s interest in Aleñá became ‘intense’ when Pochettino was at the club.
The Argentine coach was shown the exit door in November and replaced by José Mourinho, and therefore, the English club’s interest in Aleñá ‘has cooled’ with Pochettino’s departure.
