Earlier this month, Mundo Deportivo explained Barcelona have made strengthening the striker position a ‘priority’ and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez remains ‘best placed’ target.

The Argentine international has 13 goals and four assists in 21 appearances, including a goal and an assist against the Catalan club in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat against Barca at the San Siro on Tuesday and it was the 22-year-old who set-up Romelu Lukaku’s equaliser just before the break.

Even though Martínez failed to find the back of the net in the midweek European clash, AS claims he not only passed the exam against Barcelona, but ended up impressing the Camp Nou leaders.

The South American was a headache for Ernesto Valverde’s defenders as he demonstrated his wide range of qualities.

It’s claimed the player ‘did all the things’ that Barcelona are looking in a striker, and therefore, the Inter star is the ‘favourite’ to become Luis Suárez’s successor.

Martínez has a €111m release clause, yet AS claims it’s only valid from July 1st to 15th.
