Massimiliano Allegri’s position at Juventus is in danger after his side managed only two wins from nine matches this season and there is the shadow of Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte hanging over him.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who discuss reasons the current Spurs boss could return to the Serie A side. His deal expires in 2023 and the north London club have an option to extend it by 12 months.
Conte has not yet signed a new contract at Tottenham and the report says this must be interpreted as him being open to joining Juve.
Through their chief, Fabio Paratici, the English club ‘tried to force their hand a little’ to find an agreement with the former Chelsea manager, but he ‘continues to postpone’. For now, talks have been postponed to January. The report adds the 53-year-old having a ‘healthy desire’ to return to Italy should not be excluded.
At the moment, no decisive choice has been made at Juve and there isn’t anything firm yet.
Calciomercato.it end their report by stating; ‘Perhaps that could be a clue to understand who has already moved to start saying to Conte: “Antonio, come back here and let’s get together again”.’
Over at Il Giornale, they explain that Juventus have contacted ex-Roma sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi, who is a friend of Conte. The report suggests it may be a sensible idea, considering the issues at the club are off the pitch.
If Petrachi were to become the new director at Juventus, then only time will tell whether the current Tottenham coach would follow his friend to Turin.
