Brentford star Kevin Schade has revealed he asked for a heading pendulum to be bought for him by the club, when he initially joined them.

Sky Germany have an interview with the forward in which he talks all things heading, his recent spate of headed goals and Brentford in general.

The 23-year-old has found himself in good scoring form of late, with two goals in the 4-3 win over Manchester United and another in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest four days earlier.

That brought an end to a run of eight games in the Premier League without a goal and continued Brentford’s strong end to t the season.

The biggest surprise was his double against Manchester United both came from his head, something that caught everyone by surprise.

That includes Schade, although he admits he did ask Brentford to sign a heading aid for him when he first signed for the club.

“Two goals with your head? Maybe once in your youth career. Definitely not in the professional ranks. That was something truly special,” he said.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have one here at Brentford. Although I specifically requested the header pendulum before signing my contract. I got one, but it just wasn’t good. I’m now practicing my heading game with crosses. In training, we do specific exercises for headers.”

Despite the lack of a pendulum, Schade has had no problem scoring with his head this season, or any other body parts.

His recent trio of goals too him to ten in the Premier League this season, with another in the EFL Cup taking him to 11 goals in 40 games in all competitions so far.

He’s very pleased with those numbers, particularly in the Premier League, having set that ten goal mark at the beginning of the campaign.

“Those were four fantastic days,” he added.

“But I can judge that quite well. At the beginning, I didn’t play as much as I wanted. And there was also a phase where I didn’t score for a few games. That’s why I’m staying grounded.

“It’s great that I’ve broken the ten-goal mark. That was also my personal goal before the season, by the way. But there shouldn’t be an upper limit.

“My fitness is my secret. It’s a super important factor. I’m injury-free and have finally found my rhythm. I also try to eat healthily and focus on my athletic training.”
