RB Salzburg director Christoph Freund has admitted that there is a ‘high possibility’ Dominik Szoboszlai will leave in January, as rumours of interest from Tottenham continue to swirl.
The Austrian footballer has been heavily linked with a move in the winter window after continuing his rapid rise this season.
The 20-year-old has five goals and nine assists in 14 games, meaning he currently sits on 22 goals and 33 assists in 75 games for the club so far.
Those numbers have earned him admirers all around Europe, with clubs in England, Germany and Italy all thought to be keen on a move.
That’s backed up by BILD, who state that Szoboszlai is ‘on the list’ at Spurs.
If that is the case, it seems a move in January may be possible if the latest comments from Freund are anything to go by.
“Of course you would like to have the player in the club as long as possible,” he told Sky Sport Austria.
“On the other hand, it is also healthy if he takes the next step at the right time,” he said.
“Let’s see what happens in winter, but there is a high probability that he will move to a big club.
“That is definitely a next step in development so that he can tap this potential and this performance with every game.
“(I’m) convinced that he can become one of the most interesting midfielders in Europe in the next few years.”
