One of the areas Juventus will look to strengthen in the summer is the centre-back position.
Last Friday, we covered claims from Italy that the Turin club’s Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici have added Toby Alderweirld of Tottenham Hotspur as a ‘surprise’ target for this summer.
There’s another update on the Belgium international, this time from Calciomercato.
It’s once again stated the 30-year-old remains ‘firmly’ in Paratici’s list of targets.
Earlier this season, Tottenham exercised the option to extend their player’s deal by one more year and with that, a release clause of £25m was triggered.
If the Serie A winners are to sign the 30-year-old, they have to pay his buyout clause, which is relatively low.
This makes make Alderweireld ‘particularly attractive’.
Ajax knocked out Juventus in the Champions League quarter-final and will face Tottenham in the last four of the competition. If Massimiliano Allegri’s side had progressed, then Paratici would have watched Alderweirld as an opponent.
Calciomercato claims the Juve chief will now watch Alderweirld in action against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final as a spectator.
