Premier League sides are no strangers to watching players that ply their trade in Portugal, and there’s often spies from England in the stands at big clubs.
Monday’s edition of O Jogo reports officials from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle and Leicester were present at FC Porto’s home game against Arouca yesterday. Representatives from VfL Wolfsburg, PSG, Real Betis and Granada were also present.
Manchester United had someone there and whilst they often keep an eye on Portugal for emerging talents, their trip this time was likely more related to playing Porto later this week.
While it is unclear who Tottenham, Newcastle United and Leicester City were keeping an eye on, Porto picked up a convincing 4-0 win.
Summer signing Samu Omorodion found the back of the net on and so did Galeno, who has been linked with a host of clubs in the past few months.
O Jogo have mentioned in another report that Omorodion and Galeno had put in stand-out performances, with both players earning a rating of 7.
Nico Gonzalez and Denis Gul also found themselves on the scoresheet.
Porto’s XI featured goalkeeper Diogo Costa and 23-year-old midfielder Alan Varela, with 27-year-old winger Pepe starting on the left wing.
Costa and Varela look prime for big transfers over the next couple of windows.
