On Thursday, we covered a report from Sport which stated Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Dani Rodríguez and could tempt the 18-year-old attacker with better financial conditions than what are on offer at the Camp Nou.

Friday’s edition of the Catalan newspaper has the same article and then adds what Barcelona plan to do to try and fight off the interest from Spurs.

Sport explain that purely on economics, Barca ‘will never be able to compete’ with what would be on offer from Tottenham.

Therefore, they need to rely on a ‘sporting plan’ to convince the youngster that it would be best for his career to ignore the overtures from Ange Postecoglou’s side and stay where he is.

On their side they have the development of a number of young players in recent years, and the club’s clear willingness to give youth a chance.

Whilst that’s a reasonable plan, there’s clear panic at the Catalan club that Dani Rodríguez ‘will leave’ when his contract ends this summer.

Tottenham are unlikely to be the only club interested, although it appears the Premier League side are currently ahead of anyone else in the pursuit.
