Simone Inzaghi’s reported decision to reject Manchester United over the last week is something we’re sure to be hearing more about over coming days.
And Sport Italia provide their stance on the matter after reports on Saturday about the rejection from the Inter Milan manager.
That report explained Manchester United had been in touch with Inzaghi about potentially replacing Erik ten Hag but were rejected by Inzaghi, who prefers the project at Inter.
Sport Italia now say that Manchester United contacted Inzaghi a week ago, before their disappointing 3-3 draw with Porto in the Europa League that increased the pressure on Ten Hag.
It’s not the first time the two parties have been in contact with Manchester United contacting him last season as well.
However, the ‘spiralling situation’ at Old Trafford has reportedly led them to go ‘all-in’ this time, even asking if he would be immediately available. They would be willing to put a rich contract on the table for him and a big transfer budget to boot.
Inzaghi wasn’t swayed by those things, though, and chose Inter. He reportedly prefers the Inter project and has even made that clear to other Premier League sides who have been in touch.
He has a strong bond with the club and their fans but also the management around him and valued that over what Manchester United could offer.
