Failing in their attempts to sign Riyad Mahrez over the summer, AS Roma never got the creative right-winger they so desperately tried to bring in during the last transfer window.
Now short on funds, the Serie A side are in talks to sell their star striker, Edin Dzeko, to Chelsea, leaving them with the likes of Patrik Schick and Grégoire Defrel to put the ball in the back of the net.
A player capable of creating great chances for the duo would certainly be of help, and according to LaRoma24, they’ve just been offered one: Tottenham’s Erik Lamela.
The Italian website state the Tottenham forward has been proposed to the Serie A side via an intermediary who recently met with Monchi in Milan over the past few days.
If he were to make the switch from Wembley to the Stadio Olimpico, LaRoma24 explain it would be a loan with a view to buy, helped by the good relationship between the two sides via a certain Franco Baldini.
On paper, this makes a lot of sense, considering Roma is where Lamela first made a name for himself in Europe, and it would be the perfect club for the Argentinian to help him bounce back from his long-term injury.
Could this have something to do with the recent Lucas Moura to Tottenham rumours, we wonder?
