Tottenham’s chances of signing RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol have been dismissed, even if they were to offer €50m.
The centre-back was linked with a move to Tottenham this week, with it claimed in England that he’s on Antonio Conte’s transfer list ahead of the summer.
It was made clear in that report that they would likely have to pay big for the centre-back, who has established himself as a first-choice under Domenico Tedesco for Leipzig this season.
RB Live have now picked up on the report and explain why it’s unlikely Gvardiol will end up in London in the summer.
Things are going very well for him with Leipzig, where he is ‘developing wonderfully’ and has a regular starting role in the side.
Indeed, he’s already ruled out a move in the summer in an interview with BILD earlier this year, telling them he was ‘not really making any plans’ on that front.
Furthermore, Leipzig would ‘hardly let’ their ‘defensive jewel’ go anyway, even if reports have suggested a fee of around €50m.
They have the player tied down to a long-term contract until 2026, and it’s very likely that includes a release clause, which would presumably be higher than the €50m mentioned.
In fact, RB Live say these rumours are ‘not really new’, and there were even claims to a similar effect in the English media in February. Or, to put it another way, this is just an old story rehashed.
As far as they’re concerned, the chances of Gvardiol ending up at Tottenham this summer are slim to none, and this is one transfer story that should be dismissed out of hand.
