Kasper Schmeichel will arrive at Nice on a free transfer after Leicester City elected to end his contract a year early.
That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who provide details on the Danish international’s impending departure from the Kingpower.
Schmeichel has been linked with the surprised switch to France over the last week, with Nice keep to find an experienced goalkeeper after losing Walter Benitez.
The Leicester veteran is the man they have targeted and reports in England have made it clear a deal is close to being completed.
They say that a ‘total agreement’ has been struck between Leicester and Nice for the 35-year-old and ‘everything is now settled’ for him to move to the Cote d’Azur.
According to their information, ‘intense negotiations’ with Leicester and the player have led to an agreement between all parties.
Schmeichel is set to join the French side on a free transfer as he will be ‘free of any contract’. In other words, Leicester have agreed to terminate his contract a year early.
The website also insist that the goalkeeper will not sign a three-year deal at this new club as has been suggested, but a two-year contract instead.
Either way, it’s now being reported in France and England that a move is imminent and Schmeichel will be bringing his long association with the Foxes to an end.
