‘Today the summit is planned’ – Meeting key on transfer to Tottenham, opening for Spurs

Earlier this month, we covered several claims from Spain explaining that Clément Lenglet is prioritising a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

It was also said the Premier League side have an agreement in place with the defender but haven’t managed to find one with Barcelona so far. This has been the problem for the player, who spent last season on loan at Spurs.

Sport reiterate the 28-year-old returned to the La Liga side for pre-season with the goal of continuing at Tottenham.

It’s claimed the track leading to Spurs ‘has been broken’ because they aren’t willing to meet the Catalan club’s asking price, if they have to take care of his full salary.

Lenglet is owed wages after he agreed to reduce his salary during the pandemic to help Barca. The Catalan side, quite cheekily, want any new club to cover the money that was deferred.

Al-Nassr are willing to offer a good deal to both the centre-back and his employer. Xavi Hernández’s side are pushing him to Saudi Arabia but he isn’t keen.

Therefore, Sport explain that ‘today the summit is planned’ by Barcelona to get rid of the Frenchman and ‘nothing is ruled out’.

With Lenglet keen to continue in Europe, the report adds Tottenham could come forward to take Lenglet on another loan deal.

Barca want to save on his wages, which is why they are want to offload Lenglet quickly. It needs to be seen where he’ll end up next.
