A few months ago, it used to be common to see reports saying Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was close to making a move to Brazil. With the player willing to move close to Uruguay, Brazilian clubs seemed to be the most viable option for his return to South America.
This weekend, however, the 35-year-old was mostly linked with moves to Spain and Argentina, with the rumours of a move to the land of the samba basically disappearing.
So in an update brought by journalist Jorge Nicola, it’s pointed out that Cavani’s move to Brazil is indeed highly unlikely at this point.
The journalist claims that all clubs who’d been in touch to sign the player have recently given up on their chase. Botafogo didn’t receive a response from his agent, Palmeiras considered his demands to be too big and Corinthians won’t be able to afford the signing due to an issue with their sponsors.
The whole picture makes it more likely that the Uruguayan, whose contract with Manchester United expires in a couple of months, ends up staying in Europe instead.
