Mauricio Pochettino appears to be quickly losing any respect from journalists because of his constant complaints about his Chelsea squad.

That’s according to journalist Süleyman Öztürk, who has criticised the Chelsea boss for his complaining and performances this season.

Pochettino arrived at Chelsea in the summer as their next long-term manager and the man chosen to completely rebuild the squad following the extravagant spending under Todd Boehly and co.’s leadership so far.

That led to another busy summer where there were numerous exits and even more additions to an already bloated squad to try and make it better suited for Pochettino’s needs.

He’s been unable to turn them into a coherent unit up to now, though, with Chelsea currently 12th in the table and closer to the relegation zone than the top four, where they’re ultimately aiming to be.

It’s been a disappointing campaign to date and Pochettino has cut an increasingly frustrated figure as he tries to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

That was the case for him at the weekend after the loss to Everton, when he again hinted that further signings were needed in the January transfer window, a comment that has not gone down well with Öztürk.

“I sometimes have the feeling that coaches who whine for new players when they are injured are fraudsters,” he said.

“Pochettino is busy looking for excuses every week. At first it was a new project, then the team had to grow, then there were injuries, then everyone had to get fitter and understand their football ideas better.

“They all signed players in the summer, and I wonder where they actually play. Maybe he is a good trainer for another club. This was evident at Tottenham Hotspur, where he came in without any expectations.

“If you look at what has been invested at Chelsea, he obviously has to perform much better. And that really starts with the trainer.

“I simply can’t take that man seriously anymore when he claims in an interview with a straight face that the lemons still have to do their work. Then I think: that’s just an idiot, then you’re not feeling well.”
