Rangers winning the Scottish Premiership continues to get widespread coverage around the world football media. The Glasgow club, and their never ending battle against neighbours Celtic, has been increasingly covered since Steven Gerrard took over at Ibrox.

That caught a lot of imagination, and when the matches between Rangers and Celtic finally returned, they were widely welcomed back.

Steven Gerrard managing to push Celtic aside so easily this season, and secure the title for Rangers early, has been the culmination of a story building ever since financial problems brought so much pain to Ibrox.

As that title fairytale continues to be covered, countries with any connections to Rangers right now want to squeeze as much out of it as possible.

In Switzerland, that means everyone wants to interview Cedric Itten and ask him about his experience in Glasgow this season.

The latest to get the chance to speak to Itten are SRF, and they stated swapping Swiss football for the Scottish Premiership seemed a rather unusual decision, so they asked if the transfer has met expectations.

Itten replied: “Definitely. Rangers are a top international team, as shown by results in the Europa League so far. In the next season we only have to get through one qualifying round to reach the Champions League. I particularly like that the club is very ambitious and how professionally the club is run. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much of Scotland itself because we’ve been in lockdown since my arrival. For the same reason, I haven’t seen fans in the stadium.”

On the biggest differences between Swiss and Scottish football, Itten said: “In Scotland, two teams dominate the league, Rangers and Celtic. Accordingly, all other teams are very defensive. Scottish football is also extremely physical and the whistle does not go as quickly as in Switzerland.”
