One of the stars at Sunderland despite their poor run of form and relegation down the leagues, Josh Maja decided to try something new last January and headed to Bordeaux.

The young striker swapped the north of England for the south of France, which has gone quite well, although he probably isn’t playing as much as wants.

One of his aims is to one day return to the Premier League, with a preference to go to Arsenal, his team, as he explained to beIN Sports.

The player might have made 20 appearances under Paulo Sousa this year, but most of them have come from the bench as he’s played just 26% of the potential minutes.

In that short time, however, he has scored five goals and assisted another two, proving that he is of use, and at only 21 years of age, there’s plenty of time for his dream to come true.

As part of a profile on him on beIN Sports, he said: “Obviously, growing up in London, one of my dreams is to play in the Premier League. Hopefully in the future, that opportunity comes. My team is Arsenal, so hopefully one day I’ll get the opportunity to play for them. If not, then I’ll keep supporting”.

A lot can happen in the future, and no one knows what it’s made of, so there’s still hope for Maja’s dream of walking out at the Emirates in an Arsenal shirt to become a reality.

He might need to play a bit more and find the back of the net a tad more often, but, as we said above, there’s no rush.
