It seems we could now be heading towards the end of the Gustavo Scarpa saga.

In the past few weeks, the Brazilian media has been bringing countless reports on the attempts to sign the midfielder from Nottingham Forest.

Now many sources claim Atlético Mineiro are leading the race. One of the reports comes from Trivela journalist Alecsander Henrick.

The reporter spoke to people close to Scarpa, who claimed that the Nottingham Forest player is ‘more open’ to returning to Brazil and the “talks are good” with Atlético Mineiro so far.

As UOL features their story on the scenario, they also claim that Atlético are ahead of Flamengo in the race. It’s said they made an official €4.5m bid for the signing already.

Scarpa is loaned by Nottingham Forest to Olympiakos, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem, as the Brazilian media have been insisting that the Tricky Trees are on board with his sale.

Now since the first reports said the Reds’ request was of €6m, we’ll see if Atlético will manage to find a deal with them in the coming days.
