On Monday, we covered the story from Italy that AC Milan, still looking for a new striker, had turned their attention to Chelsea’s Armando Broja.
Still recovering from a serious knee injury, the Albania international missed pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino, and became a target for West Ham along the way.
Chelsea turned down any approach for him then, and continue to do the same, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, following the Argentine manager’s request.
The Italian newspaper explain that Broja is currently ‘in pole position’ on Milan’s shortlist of targets, which is why the Serie A side went as far as ‘enquiring’ about his availability.
However, they received a ‘negative response’ from the Stamford Bridge side, because Pochettino is ‘waiting to let him leave for now’, as he continues to ‘follow the evolution of the incoming market’.
Down the player’s end, the 21-year-old is ‘hungry for the field and his priority is to play consistently at a high level’, which is something Milan can offer and why they can ‘represent an excellent solution’ for him.
First, though, they need approval from Chelsea and Pochettino, at which point a deal like the one that eventually took Fikayo Tomori to Milan for good, meaning a paid loan with an option to buy, could take place.
