Sunderland AFC are continuing their recruitment process of targeting young prospects, having already bought a few this summer.

The arrivals of Jenson Seelt, Jobe Bellingham, Nectarios Triantis and Luís Semedo are all for the future and the present at the Stadium of Light, and Foot Mercato in France believe another forward is being looked at.

The man in question is Eliezer Mayenda, who plays for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in France, who have just been forcefully relegated to National 1 after failing their inspection in front of the league’s financial watchdog, the DNCG.

Therefore, a few talents have already left, and Mayenda could swiftly follow suit, as Sunderland are one of the clubs interested in him.

The 18-year-old, who has represented Spain’s U17s three times, was used sparingly in Ligue 2 last year, but managed to score one goal in 15 appearances in the league, with just one start.

Still, that appears to have been enough to catch the eye of Sunderland, who are ‘very interested’ at the idea of bringing the youngster to the Stadium of Light.

For how much isn’t said, but considering the need for money over at Sochaux these days, it could be relatively cheap.
