Last summer, when Adnan Januzaj left Real Sociedad as a free agent, West Ham United were said to be one of the contenders for his signing.

The winger’s return to England, however, never happened, as he agreed to a four-year contract with Sevilla.

It turns out it only took a few months for the La Liga side to regret that signing, according to Estadio Deportivo, and West Ham may have dodged a bullet there.

The website writes that Januzaj was one of the most ‘disastrous’ signings that Sevilla made in recent years. It’s said the winger ‘has not been even close’ to what he’d shown at Real Sociedad, and that’s why the Nervion side now told the player they do not count on him, telling him to find a new club in the January transfer window.

Estadio Deportivo even recalls the other clubs who were linked to the 27-year-old in the summer. Those were Napoli, Barcelona, Real Betis and West Ham.

The links with the Hammers had to do with the fact that David Moyes worked with Januzaj at Manchester United, and the manager reportedly would like to have him by his side again in London. True or not, it just looks like the Hammers did well in not signing the player last summer.
