On May 31st, we relayed news from Italy that West Ham United and Everton are in the picture to sign Salernitana star Boulaye Dia in the summer window.
This is backed up now by La Città di Salerno, who provide more updates on the efforts put in by the two English clubs to sign the 26-year-old.
It’s said the striker, who managed 16 goals and six assists from 33 games last season, has received ‘strong signals’ from West Ham, Everton, Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio and Inter Milan. These clubs have also asked for information about him.
The report doesn’t specify if the Premier League duo and others contacted the Serie A side, the player’s camp or both. Fiorentina, for their part, plan to offer €15m plus Arthur Cabral or Riccardo Sottil in exchange for Dia, but this formula doesn’t please Salernitana.
Last summer, Salernitana signed the Senegal international from Villarreal on loan with an option to buy, which they will exercise. La Città di Salerno state Dia has a €25m release clause and this is ‘tempting’ for the likes of West Ham, Everton and others.
On Thursday, Corriere dello Sport also mentioned the €25m release clause, which they state has to be triggered before July 20th. It was also explained that West Ham and Everton are among the clubs ‘thinking’ about Dia.
